Chennai Tourist Places to be closed for public during the Pongal holidays

Chennai Tourist Places Vandalur Zoo, Mamallapuram, National parks in Guindy, Marina, and other beaches to be closed for public during the Pongal holidays:

Vandaloor ZooThe TN govt has barred access to tourist attractions of Chennai, which includes Vandalur Zoo, the Marina beach, and the national parks of Guindy. They will remain closed to the public from Jan 15th till 17th.

Based on the directions from the central government, under the National Disaster Management act, the TN govt has been imposing lockdowns with various relaxations to counter and tackle the corona menace. Owing to these rigorous implementations, the number of new corona cases has been on the wane.

Kaanum Pongal, the day of sightseeing, usually results in huge crowds in the famed Marina beach every year. Since this could pose a serious threat under the current pandemic situation, the TN Govt had earlier issued a directive that the beaches would be closed to the public on Jan 16th.

More Chennai Tourist Places

Following this, more places that are known to be teeming with tourists on holidays, such as Arignar Anna Zoological park of Vandalur, all the tourist attractions of Mamallapuram, the Guindy National park, all the beaches including the prominent Marina, were included in this list of places to be shut down during the pongal holidays. All the aforementioned places would remain closed on Jan 15th, 16th and 17th.

The public is expected to follow the basic safety precautions, such as wearing a face mask and to keep social distancing norms, and honor and abide all the directives issued time and then by the TN govt. Public cooperation is vital to tackle and overcome the current pandemic crisis.
